At Rock Springs, we believe that academic growth and strong character go hand in hand. That is why our school proudly implements the Character Counts! framework, which emphasizes fundamental values such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Character development is at the heart of everything we do—it fosters a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where our students learn to navigate life with integrity, empathy, and resilience.

Our school motto perfectly captures this belief: Rock Springs R.O.C.K.S.! (Roadrunners of Character Keep Succeeding). This daily commitment reminds our community that real success is measured not just by academic achievements, but by how we treat standard choices, lift up those around us, and contribute to our school. When families and educators partner together to reinforce these core values, our children build the confidence and discipline needed to thrive in all areas of life.

We recently celebrated a wonderful milestone in our school year. On Thursday, September 3rd, we held our very first Character Counts recognition awards assembly of the year! It was inspiring to gather together and honor students who consistently model exceptional character and uphold our school values in the classroom and on the playground.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients! Your hard work, positive choices, and outstanding leadership set a magnificent example for all of us. Thank you to our parents and community members for your continued partnership and support in guiding our Roadrunners toward a bright, character-filled future.

We had another great week at Rock Springs Elementary School. We began the week supporting our TK and Kindergarten students learn their colors. So many of our staff and students wore Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, and Blue colors for each day of the week. On Tuesday, we had our English Learner Advisory Committee meeting to elect officers. It was a great success but it was bitter sweet. At the meeting, we said goodbye to our Family Liaison, Judith Arias Pollock as she retired on Tuesday. Before she left though, she was honored with a Certificate of Recognition from the City of Escondido for her hard work for our families in our community. On Thursday night, we had a great Back to School Night. Thank you to all of our families who came out to learn about their child's classroom, meet the teachers, and sign up for our wonderful PTA. Don't forget to sign up for Box Tops for Education too! A big thank you to Neighborhood Healthcare Escondido, Kona Ice, and our PTA for your support in serving our Rock Springs families. Many of the photos here are courtesy of Tina Marie of our PTA. Finally, we finished off a very hot week with our PTA Popsicle sales after school on Friday. Rock Springs R.O.C.K.S.!
