Rock Springs Elementary

On May 26, Mr. Johnson successfully led our Rock Springs Elementary school band in their first concert of the 21/22 school year.  Mr. Johnson's band, comprised of hard-working 5th graders, entertained and thrilled Kinder through 3rd graders with a full line up of songs such as Mix'Em Up and Up and Down.  There were even solos and duets performed by the band members, including a duet with twins, Emily and Thomas Downs. The group of musicians began to meet once a week for 30 minutes, in February of this school year.  The students are responsible for practicing each day at home for 15 minutes and remembering to bring their instruments and books to class each week.  Mr. Johnson was extremely proud of them for pulling off such a great concert in under 4 months of ever playing an instrument.  Some of the crowds' favorites were the last three arrangements played by the band in which Mr. Johnson was able to join the performers on keyboard.  While there was a great response by the crowd to their version of Baby Shark, everyone's overwhelming favorite song played was SpongeBob.  Our Rock Springs community looks forward to next year's band performance!
