Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, September 11, 2013. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of around 78 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. McDowell's Class.

Pledge:

The pledge is open next week. Teachers, please sign-up to send in some students!

Announcements:

Happy Birthday!

RSU wishes Mrs. Heiland a big Happy Birthday today! Mrs. Heiland is at a teacher training today, so be sure to wish her a belated happy birthday tomorrow!

Today is...

Patriot Day!

On this Day in History:

Today is the anniversary of 9/11. Many of our Roadrunners may not know the significance of today, but know that today is an important day to remember and pay our respect to many great Americans that lost their lives today.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The largest frog in the world is The Goliath Frog of Gabon in West Africa and can grow as big as 13 inches long and can weigh up to 6 1/2 pounds.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Respect, our second Pillar of Character, represented by the color yellow or gold. When you think about respect, think”The Golden Rule".

The Golden Rule — do unto others as you would have them do unto you — nicely illustrates the Pillar of respect. Respect prohibits violence, humiliation, manipulation and exploitation. It reflects notions such as civility, courtesy, decency, dignity, autonomy, tolerance and acceptance.

According to an Unknown author, "The words you speak today should be soft and tender ... for tomorrow you may have to eat them."

MAP Testing

Teachers: MAP testing has been delayed. Please check your email today for some updated information about MAP testing and be sure to stay current on any changes to the MAP calendar.

Safety First!

  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
