Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 49 of school on this Wednesday, October 29, 2014. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies today with a high of about 86 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Andrew's class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Kindergarten classes.

Today is...
National Chocolate Day

On this Day in History:

Nearly four decades after he became the first American to orbit the Earth, Senator John Hershel Glenn, Jr., is launched into space again as a payload specialist aboard the space shuttle Discovery. At 77 years of age, Glenn was the oldest human ever to travel in space. During the nine-day mission, he served as part of a NASA study on health problems associated with aging.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Mosquitoes like the scent of estrogen, hence, women get bitten by mosquitoes more often than men do.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Trustworthiness, our first Pillar of Character, represented by the color blue. When you think about trustworthiness, think "true blue".

Honesty and Integrity are both qualities of someone that has Trustworthiness. Being honest means being truthful and sincere. A person of integrity is undivided and complete.

According to author Edgar J. Mohn, "A lie has speed, but truth has endurance."

This week is 4th grade week in the library.

Why did the monster's mother knit him three socks? She heard he grew another foot!

Spirit Week:

  • Today = Jersey/Sports Day
  • Thursday = Crazy Hair Day
  • Friday = Halloween Costume Day/Parade
Red Ribbon Week:
Friday, after the Halloween parade, classes will be touring the campus to see the door decorations.

Safety Patrol:
Get together today at 2:30 in room 23

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
