Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, October 17, 2012. The forecast is calling mostly sunny skies and a with a high of around 92 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

October 17 is officially, "National Pasta Day".

On this Day in History:

British general and playwright John Burgoyne surrenders 5,000 British and Hessian troops to American General Horatio Gates at Saratoga, New York, on this day in 1777. Soon after word of the Patriot victory at Saratoga reached France, King Louis XVI agreed to recognize the independence of the United States and French Foreign Minister Charles Gravier, Count de Vergennes, made arrangements with U.S. Ambassador Benjamin Franklin to begin providing formal French aid to the Patriot cause. This assistance was crucial to the eventual American victory in the Revolutionary War.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The human eye blinks an average of 4,200,000 times each year.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange:
An individual, company or society should correct mistakes, promptly and voluntarily. It is improper to take advantage of the weakness or ignorance of others.
According to a Bill Clinton, 42nd U.S. president, "In our hearts and in our laws, we must treat all our people with fairness and dignity."

The next two days are parent teacher conferences. That mean no school for our Roadrunner students and a nice 4 day break. Take the time to have some fun, read a book, and help someone. We'll see everyone here Monday morning.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
