Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, October 16, 2013. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of about 87 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mr. Hernandez's Class.

Next week, Mrs. Reynoso's class will be leading up in the pledge.

Today is...

Dictionary Day! Today is also Boss's Day!

On this Day in History:

On this day in in 1758, Noah Webster, Jr., was born. If his name sounds familiar, it should, his name became synonymous with "dictionary," especially the modern Merriam-Webster dictionary that was first published in 1828 as An American Dictionary of the English Language.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The average person falls asleep in seven minutes.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

It's Pillars of Character Week at RSU!

Are you a TRRFCC (terrific) student? Remember that TRRFCC students demonstrate Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. RSU students uphold the Six Pillars of Character everyday.

According to Booker T. Washington, American educator, "Character is power."

The PTA has a new bulletin board. The PTA board is located just inside the main gate. On it you will find important current information about events and functions. We have not yet reached the 200 mark. If you want to see Mrs. Frank dance, get your parents to join the PTA.

Red Ribbon Week

Next week is Red Ribbon Week! This is a time to proclaim loud and strong that we are drug free at Rock Springs School!
  • Monday = Hugs Not Drugs Day: Bring a stuffed animal to school
  • Tuesday = Shade Out Drugs Day: Wear your Sunglasses
  • Wednesday: Wear-Red Day
  • Thursday = Team Up Against Drugs: Wear sports gear
  • Friday = Follow Your Dreams: Wear your pajamas

Parent Teacher Conferences

Tomorrow and Friday are parent teacher conferences. That means no school for students! We look forward to seeing all or our RSU parents over the next few days at conferences. This would also be a great time to get them to sign up for the PTA!

Safety First!

  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

An important memo was placed in your box yesterday afternoon. It is important for you to discuss with parents at conferences. Please make sure you retrieve this memo today if you have not already done so.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
