Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, May 8, 2013. The forecast calls for chance of partly cloudy skies with a high of around 66 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Mallinger's class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Ms. S. Isherwood's class for the pledge.

Today is...

Officially No Socks Day!
It's also the California Day of the Teacher!

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1884, Harry S. Truman is born in Lamar, Missouri. The son of a farmer, Truman could not afford to go to college. He joined the army at the relatively advanced age of 33 in 1916 to fight in World War I. After the war, he opened a haberdashery in Kansas City, and in 1922, he entered Missouri politics.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

You breathe in 2,000 gallons of air a day.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green. When you think about  responsibility, think about being responsible for a green garden.

Ethical people show responsibility by being accountable. An accountable person is not a victim and doesn’t shift blame or claim credit for the work of others. He considers the likely consequences of his behavior and associations. He recognizes the common complicity in the triumph of evil when nothing is done to stop it. He leads by example.

According to Titus Livius, Roman historian and philosopher, "Men's minds are too ready to excuse guilt in themselves."

CST testing continues today for 5th grade. Please remember to be quiet around campus this morning and show respect for our 5th grade testers. Take a deep breath, relax, and show what you know!

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
