Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, May 7, 2014. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies today with a high of about 67 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Sylliaasen's class.

Next week, Mrs. Andrews class will be leading us in the pledge.

Today is...
Accountant's Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1789, President George Washington attends a ball in his honor. The event provided a model for the first official inaugural ball, held to celebrate James Madison's ascension to the office ten years later, which then became an annual tradition.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
There was once a lake the size of England in the Sahara.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Respect, our second Pillar of Character, represented by the color yellow or gold. When you think about respect, think "The Golden Rule".

The Golden Rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” nicely illustrates the Pillar of respect. Respect prohibits violence, humiliation, manipulation and exploitation. It reflects notions such as civility, courtesy, decency, dignity, autonomy, tolerance and acceptance.

According to an African-American proverb, "The price of your hat isn't the measure of your brain."

Book Fair
Remember, it is Fiesta time in the Library! The Book Fair is underway. It is open from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. Students need to have a pass to enter.

Open House
Tonight is Open House. We look forward to seeing everyone here tonight from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
