Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, May 22, 2013. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of around 70 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Werner's class to lead us with the pledge.

Announcements:

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Goulart's class for the pledge.

Today is...

Officially National Maritime Day.

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1843, The first major wagon train to the northwest departs from Elm Grove, Missouri, on the Oregon Trail.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Red Diamonds are some of the Rarest stones in the world.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.

Refuse to Argue and Pick Your Battles. Engaging in a conversation with another person is a choice we make (whether we always do so consciously or not). Make a conscious effort to note when you’re entering into an argument, and then just stop. Remember, not every argument is worth engaging in — so don’t feel like you have to get into an argument just because someone else is asking for one. “Sorry, I can’t talk about this right now, let’s talk more about this later…” or “You’re right, I’m wrong, I’m sorry” will put a sudden halt to the argument.

According to an Indian proverb, "He who allows his day to pass by without practicing generosity and enjoying life's pleasures is like a blacksmith's bellows: he breathes but does not live."

Don't forget, tomorrow is the RSU Jog-a-Thon. Come to school ready to run!
8:15-9:15 = 4th & 5th grades
9:20-10:20 = 2nd & 3rd grades
10:25-11:15 = Kinder & 1st grades

Also, Mr. Plunkett wants to remind the Running Club that this Friday is the last day for Running Club.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
