Announcements:

History

On this day in 1776, De Anza founds San Francisco. Juan Bautista de Anza, one of the great western pathfinders of the 18th century, arrives at the future site of San Francisco with 247 colonists.

Though little known among Americans because of his Spanish origins, Anza's accomplishments as a western trailblazer merit comparison with those of Lewis and Clark, John Fremont, and Kit Carson. The name may sound familiar to you, think of the Anza-Borrego desert, and de Anza cove in Mission Bay.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today;

The sky is blue because when sunlight collides with our atmosphere, colours of the shortest wavelengths (violet and blue) are scattered - and our eyes are more sensitive to see blue.

This is the Season of Nonviolence - The Word of the Day is Harmony
Choosing not to engage in any form of gossip today contributes to harmony. Today, choose to see the good in others rather than finding fault.

We will be having a “We are the World” Peace Assembly on Friday in the courtyard. Please wear your peace shirts for the assembly. Teachers, the song, We are the World will be in your mailbox today. Also, turn in you peace posters to Mrs. Heiland or Ms. Peters.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
