Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 124 of school on this Wednesday, March 11, 2015. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies today, with high of about 77 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Kindergarten classes to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Kindergarten class.

Today is...
Johnny Appleseed Day

On this Day in History:
Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is published in 1818. The book, by 21-year-old Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, is frequently called the world's first science fiction novel.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
In seahorses, it's the male who gives birth to the young.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green. When you think about responsibility, think about being responsible for a green garden.

Ethical people show responsibility by being accountable. An accountable person is not a victim and doesn't shift blame or claim credit for the work of others. He considers the likely consequences of his behavior and associations. He recognizes the common complicity in the triumph of evil when nothing is done to stop it. He leads by example.

According to a Chinese proverb, "Teachers open the door, but you must walk through it yourself."

5th grade week

Thursday = Grade-Level Collaboration

Spring Picture Day
Today is Spring Picture Day. A runner will come to your classroom when it is your time. Only students with money will be getting their picture taken.

CAASPP Testing
CAASPP Testing starts Tomorrow for grades 3, 4, and 5. Be sure to rest, relax, and be ready for the test!

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
