Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 96 of school on this Wednesday, January 28, 2015. The forecast calls for party cloudy skies and a high of about 75 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Zacharias' class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by the Kindergarten classes.

Announcements:

Today is...
National Kazoo Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1986, the space shuttle Challenger lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Your Brain is about 3/4 or 75% water.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange. When you think about fairness, think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends.

What is fairness? Most would agree it involves issues of equality, impartiality, proportionality, openness and due process. Essentially fairness implies adherence to a balanced standard of justice without relevance to ones own feelings or inclinations.

According to Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th U.S. President, "Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and cooperation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace."

MAP Testing
Classes testing today are Mrs. Fridell and Mrs. Schmottlach, Mr. Horstman, and Ms. J. Isherwood. Be sure to remember to take your time, read the questions thoroughly, and do your best.

Wellness Wednesday
As we head into the 13th week of our Wellness Wednesday Celebration, we will feature Mushrooms and Melon to represent the letter M in our A to Z Salad Bar.

Teacher Update:
  • Wednesday 1/28 = School Site Council Meeting
  • Thursday 1/29 = Grade-Level Collaboration
  • Monday 2/2 = Leadership Meeting
  • Tuesday 2/3 = Tech Tuesday

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
