Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 91 of school on this Wednesday, January 21, 2015. The forecast calls for partly cloudy to sunny skies with a high of about 75 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Ms. Riley's class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Zacharias' class.

Today is...
National Hugging Day & Squirrel Appreciation Day

On this Day in History:
On this day 1738, Ethan Allen, future Revolutionary War hero and key founder of the Republic of Vermont, is born in Litchfield, Connecticut.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
A cat has about 20 muscles in each ear.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green. When you think about responsibility, think about being responsible for a green garden.

Life is full of choices. Being responsible means being in charge of our choices and, thus, our lives. It means being accountable for what we do and who we are. It also means recognizing that our actions matter and we are morally on the hook for the consequences.

According to Booker T. Washington, American educator, "Any mans life will be filled with constant and unexpected encouragement if he makes up his mind to do his level best each day."

Wellness Wednesday
We are already in the 12th. week of our Wellness Wednesday Celebration This time we will feature Lentils & Long Beans to represent the letter 'L' in our A through Z salad bar.
Lentils are legumes or beans . The soluble fiber in lentils helps keep your cholesterol down & blood sugar under control. In a 1/2 cup serving there are 8 grams of fiber & more potassium than in a banana.
Long beans are an incredible vegetarian source for nutrition. They are rich in Vitamin A & vitamin C.

So please join us in the Cafeteria for some Lentils & Long beans. You will be surprise how delicious they are!

MAP Testing
Classes testing today are Mrs. Laquindanum, Mr. Horstman, and Ms. J. Isherwood. Be sure to remember to take your time, read the questions thoroughly, and do your best.

5th grade week

Teacher Update:
Grade-Level Collaborations this Thursday
School Site Council Meeting next Wednesday

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
