Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, February 27, 2013 and day three of Read Across America Week. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of around 70 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Conner and Mrs. Dias' class to lead us with the pledge.

Announcements:

Next week we will be joined by Ms. Roberts/Ms. Martinez's class for the pledge.

February 27th is officially, "No Brainer Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1827, a group of masked and costumed students dance through the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana, marking the beginning of the city's famous Mardi Gras celebrations.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Tropical rain forests are a habitat for 80% of the world's insect species.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Trustworthiness, our first Pillar of Character, represented by the color blue. Remember to think "true blue"

This is the Season of Non-violence:

Your word for the day is Contemplation
For at least three minutes, relax, breathe, and let your mind be fed by “whatsoever is good and beautiful.” Sacred scripture states, “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

Read Across America Week

Today is day 3 of Read Across America Week. This week is dedicated to the love of reading.
  • Today is Book Share Day. Share your favorite book with a friend, just be sure to give it back.
  • Seussical Words:
    • Mrs. Reynoso's Class = Fantastical: Full of fantastic
    • Mrs. Laquindanum's Class = Fluento: reading with fluency and gusto!
    • Mrs. Zacharias' Class = Smile-a-mile: No matter where your feet take you, you're still smiling.
  • Be sure to get you bookmarks turned in to Mrs. Stump for the Read Across America Bookmark contest.
  • Don't forget that everyday this week at 9:45 we will have D.E.A.R. Time. That means we Drop Everything And Read. Yesterday I enjoyed D.E.A.R. time in Mrs. Heiland's 4th grade and Mrs. Frank read in Mr. Truett's 3rd grade.
  • Tomorrow we will be Green Day: In celebration of Dr. Seuss's famous book, Green Eggs and Ham, come to school wearing as much green as possible. Mrs. Frank and I will be roaming the campus looking for the greenest class! The cafeteria will also be serving green eggs and ham for breakfast.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
