Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, December 19, 2012. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a  high of around 57 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Zacharias' class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mr. Plunkett's third grade for the pledge.

December 19th is officially, "National Oatmeal Muffin Day".

On this Day in History:

The Apollo lunar-landing program ends on December 19, 1972, when the last three astronauts to travel to the moon splash down safely in the Pacific Ocean. Apollo 17 had lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, 10 days before.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

While we're awake, our brain generates enough power to illuminate a light bulb of 25 watts.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Caring, the fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red:
What are some ways to show you care? Today I challenge you to show how you care for someone or something.
According to an Indian proverb, “True happiness lies in giving to others.”

The Can-Do Food drive is underway. We currently have 919 cans. Only 81 cans to go to reach our goal of 1,000. Tomorrow is the last day and I know we can easily surpass our goal. Keep up the great efforts in showing that you care this holiday season!

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
