Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 78 of school on this Wednesday, December 17, 2014. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies today with a high of about 61 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Ms. S. Isherwood's class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Werner's class.

Announcements:

Today is...
Wright Brothers Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1903, Near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Orville and Wilbur Wright make the first successful flight in history of a self-propelled, heavier-than-air aircraft. Orville piloted the gasoline-powered, propeller-driven biplane, which stayed aloft for 12 seconds and covered 120 feet on its inaugural flight.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Some frogs survive the winter by freezing almost solid.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
It's Pillars of Character Week at RSU!

Yesterday I suggested making your own Character Counts! card to give to fellow students showing good character. How many students did you catch being good Pillars of Character? Today, continue to watch and try and double the number of students you catch.

According to a Portuguese proverb, "Good habits result from resisting temptation."

Wellness Wednesday
As we head into the 9th week, we will feature Indian Eggplant to represent the 'I' in our salad bar this Wednesday.  Indian Eggplants aren't vegetables, they are berries. The skin provides 2.5 grams if fiber & are low in calories which helps fight obesity. So join us on Wednesday December 17th for some delicious Indian Eggplant.

Library
4th grade week.

Can-Do Food Drive
The annual Rock Springs Can-Do is here! The food drive will run from December 8th-December 18th. Our goal is 1,000 cans! Our current count is 820.

Talent Show
For anyone planning to audition for the Talent Show, even if you're still just thinking about it, please meet Mrs. Zacharias in the MPR this Thursday after school for a short meeting from 1:05-1:15.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
