Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, December 11, 2013. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of about 69 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Ms. J. Isherwood's class.

Next week, Mrs. Dias's class will be leading us in the pledge.

Announcements:

Today is...
International Mountain Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1946, UNICEF was founded. In the aftermath of World War II, the General Assembly of the United Nations votes to establish the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), an organization to help provide relief and support to children living in countries devastated by the war.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Some frogs survive the winter by freezing almost solid.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Citizenship, our sixth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple. When you think about citizenship, think regal purple as representing the state.

A good citizen:
• believes the country is worth keeping strong,
• understands the importance of citizen involvement in a democracy, and appreciates the impact of a single act and of millions of single acts.

According to Adlai Stevenson II, politician, U.S. presidential candidate, "Politeness is the art of choosing among one’s real thoughts."

Can-Do Food Drive
It's that time of year again! It's time for the annual Rock Springs Can-Do Food Drive! The food drive will run from Dec. 9th - Dec. 19th. Bring only non-perishable foods to donate to those in need this season. Today's tally is 211.

Fall Festival
Tomorrow night is the Winter Wonderland festival. Bring your family for fun and games from 5pm to 7pm Thursday evening.

Student Council
Come to the office immediately after announcements

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
