Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 73 of school on this Wednesday, December 10, 2014. The forecast calls for sunny skies today with a high of about 77 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Heiland's class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Ms. S. Isherwood's class.

Today is...
Dewey Decimal System Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1901, The first Nobel Prizes are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden, in the fields of physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, and peace.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
A warm frog makes faster croaking noises than a cold frog.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Citizenship, our sixth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple. When you think about citizenship, think regal purple as representing the state.

A good citizen believes the country is worth keeping strong, understands the importance of citizen involvement in a democracy, and appreciates the impact of a single act and of millions of single acts.

According to Adlai Stevenson II, politician, U.S. presidential candidate, "Politeness is the art of choosing among ones real thoughts."

5th grade week.

Wellness Wednesday
As we head into the 8th week of our Wellness Wednesday Celebration, we will feature Hummus & Honeydew Melon to represent the H in our A through Z salad bar.
Hummus is commonly used in the Middle East cuisine but has become very popular in the United States as a healthy alternative to cream dips for vegetables. It is rich in fiber & protein.
Honeydew Melon is low in calories & high in Vitamin C. Foods high in Vitamin C  help repair damaged cells in your body. So please come join us in the cafeteria for some delicious Hummus & Honeydew Melon.

Can-Do Food Drive
The annual Rock Springs Can-Do is here! The food drive will run from December 8th-December 18th. Our goal is 1,000 cans! Our current count is 165.

Winter Wonderland
Tonight! Wednesday, Dec. 10th. from 5:00-7:00

Pajama Drive
On-Track is working to collect new Pajamas to help kids in need. Donate NEW pajamas in room 61.

Talent Show
It's time to start thinking about the Talent Show. Applications to audition are available.  If you plan to try out, practice and rehearse every day before auditions.  If you want to do something with a friend, you must have time after school to practice together. Auditions are Friday, January 16.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
