Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, April 24, 2013. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of around 71 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mr. Truett's class to lead us with the pledge.

Announcements:

Next week we will be joined by Mr. Horstman's class for the pledge.

Today is...

Officially Secretary's Day!

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1800, President John Adams approves legislation to appropriate $5,000 to purchase "such books as may be necessary for the use of Congress," thus establishing the Library of Congress.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The fungus Cordyceps is able to "mind-control" other insects like ants to climb plants and attach there to become its food.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Trustworthiness, our first Pillar of Character, represented by the color blue. Think "true blue".
Simply refraining from deception is not enough. Trustworthiness is the most complicated of the six core ethical values and concerns a variety of qualities like honesty, integrity, reliability and loyalty.
According to Michael Josephson, American ethicist, “How many times do you get to lie before you are a liar?”

Tonight is Open House. We look forward to seeing everyone from 5:30 - 7:00 tonight celebrating the Rock Springs Spirit.

A reminder to students waiting for their rides after-school. We trust our students to be doing the right thing by waiting patiently and appropriately at the gate for their rides. Students should not be running around or playing. Not only is this unsafe, but if you are doing this you are not watching for your ride and slowing down the flow of the parking lot. Running and playing are activities for the playground during recess. After-school is the time to show your Pillars of Character.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
