Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Wednesday, April 2, 2014. The forecast calls for the probability of showers today with  a high of about 57 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Goulart's class.

Next week, Mrs. Riley's class will be leading us in the pledge.

Today is...
National Peanut Butter, and Jelly Day and Autism Awareness Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1805, Hans Christian Andersen, one of the world's greatest storytellers, is born in Odensk, near Copenhagen.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
The largest known ant super colony stretches nearly 4,000 miles through Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Citizenship, our sixth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple. When you think about citizenship, think regal purple as representing the state.

A good citizen:
believes the country is worth keeping strong,
understands the importance of citizen involvement in a democracy, and appreciates the impact of a single act and of millions of single acts.

According to Vaclav Havel, President, Czech Republic, "Without commonly shared and widely entrenched moral values and obligations, neither the law nor democratic government will function properly."

Wellness Wednesday
As we head into the 21st week of our Wellness Wednesday Celebration, we will feature Ugli Fruit to represent the “U” in our A Through Z Salad Bar.

Ugli Fruit is the Jamaican form of a tangelo. It is a citrus fruit created by crossing a grapefruit, an orange and a tangerine. Do not be misled by their appearance or by their name. The color is a bright yellow and green and it is sometimes orange. The skin fits over the fruit loosely which makes it easy to peel. A serving of Ugli fruit contains a mere 90 calories, and contributes 4 grams of dietary fiber to your day as well as providing 140 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C.

Low in Calories, Zero Fat and High in Vitamin C??…This Fruit isn’t Ugli, it’s Healthy!!

So, come join us in the cafeteria on Wednesday, April 2nd will love its sweet and sour flavor.

Picture Day
It's Picture Day today! Teachers; pictures will be taking place in rooms 62 and 63.

Smarter Balanced Testing
Continues today with 3rd grade.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
