Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 25 of school on this Tuesday, September 23, 2014. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies today with a high of about 89 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Sylliaasen's class to lead us in the pledge.
Next week we will be joined by Ms. Peter's class.

Announcements:

Today is...
Innergize Day - A "do anything you want to do for yourself" day. A day of relaxation

On this Day in History:
On tis day in 1806, amid much public excitement, American explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark return to St. Louis, Missouri, from the first recorded overland journey from the Mississippi River to the Pacific coast and back. The Lewis and Clark Expedition had set off more than two years before to explore the territory of the Louisiana Purchase.

In 1846,  German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle discovers the planet Neptune at the Berlin Observatory.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Honeybees have remained unchanged in form or structure for 20 million years.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange. When you think about fairness, think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends.

What is fairness? Most would agree it involves issues of equality, impartiality, proportionality, openness and due process. Essentially fairness implies adherence to a balanced standard of justice without relevance to ones own feelings or inclinations.

According to Arthur Vandenberg, American journalist and senator, “It is less important to redistribute wealth than it is to redistribute opportunity.”

MAP Testing:
MAP testing continues today. Please remember to be quiet and respectful around the computer lab for testing. Also, please do not walk through the lab during testing.
Testing today will be Mr. Horstman and Ms. J. Isherwood.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
