Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 26 of school on this Tuesday, September 22, 2015. The forecast calls for cloudy skies with thunderstorms, with high of about 84 degrees.

This morning we have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Andrews class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week, we will be joined by Ms. Roberts/Martinez class to lead us in the pledge.

Today is...
Ice Cream Cone Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln issues a preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, which sets a date for the freedom of more than 3 million black slaves in the United States and recasts the Civil War as a fight against slavery.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
If a person or an animal is born colorblind, they instantly have excellent night vision.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange. When you think about fairness, think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends.

What is fairness? Most would agree it involves issues of equality, impartiality, proportionality, openness and due process. Essentially fairness implies adherence to a balanced standard of justice without relevance to one’s own feelings or inclinations.

According to Arthur Vandenberg, American journalist and senator, “It is less important to redistribute wealth than it is to redistribute opportunity.”

MAP Testing:
Continues on today! Testing today will be Mrs. Andrews, and Mrs. Mallinger.

5th Grade week.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also, remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, you are to to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!
