Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, October 9, 2012. We have cloudy skies this morning, but it should become partly cloudy and give us a high of 75 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

October 9th is officially, "Curious Events Day". Aliens. Bermuda Triangle. The lost sock in the dryer. Some mysteries were not meant to be solved. So step away from that black cat! It never did anything to you. What is your favorite Curious Event?

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1936, harnessing the power of the mighty Colorado River, Hoover Dam begins sending electricity over transmission lines spanning 266 miles of mountains and deserts to run the lights, radios, and stoves of Los Angeles.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Fleas can jump 130 times higher than their own height. In human terms, that's a 6ft tall person jumping 780 ft in the air!

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green:
A Responsible person has Accountability. An accountable person is not a victim and doesn’t shift blame or claim credit for the work of others. He considers the likely consequences of his behavior and associations. He recognizes the common complicity in the triumph of evil when nothing is done to stop it. He leads by example.
According to Joan Didion, writer, "The willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life is the source from which self-respect springs."

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
