Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, October 2, 2012. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 96 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

Announcements:

On this Day in History:

Chief Justice Earl Warren swears in Thurgood Marshall, the first black justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. As chief counsel for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in the 1940s and '50s, Marshall was the architect and executor of the legal strategy that ended the era of official racial segregation.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Chalk is made of trillions of microscopic skeleton fossils of plankton (a tiny sea creature.)

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Respect, our second Pillar of Character, represented by the color yellow or gold:
The Golden Rule — do unto others as you would have them do unto you — nicely illustrates the Pillar of respect. Respect prohibits violence, humiliation, manipulation and exploitation. It reflects notions such as civility, courtesy, decency, dignity, autonomy, tolerance and acceptance.
According to William Shakespeare, English dramatist, from his play King Richard II, "Mine honour is my life; both grow in one; Take honour from me, and my life is done."

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
