Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Since today is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, that means it's Election Day! Be sure to remind your parents to do their civic duty and vote today. The forecast for today is calling sunny skies, with a high around 86 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

November 6th is officially, "National Saxophone Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1860, Abraham Lincoln is elected the 16th president of the United States. For preserving the Union during the Civil War and bringing an end to slavery, and for his unique character and powerful oratory, Lincoln is hailed as one of the greatest American presidents.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

You shed and regrow your skin every 28 days, that's about 1000 times in a lifetime.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Citizenship, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple:
An effective citizen votes. Voting is the essence of democracy. Lincoln's Gettysburg address, "Government of the people, by the people and for the people", reminds us that it is our voice that shapes the government. By voting today, the American public is using their basic power to make themselves heard.
According to a Margaret Mead, American anthropologist,  "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Fundraiser Update:

Don't forget about our fundraiser. Orders due November 15th. Mr. Bones, the Fundraising Dog will be visiting X classroom.

Students, please remember that paper airplanes are not to be made and flown on school grounds. The only exception to this ruling is if it is a classroom activity supervised by your teacher. Lately, our campus has become littered with discarded paper airplane. Please be a good citizen of RSU and help keep our campus clean.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
