Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 54 of school on this Tuesday, November 3, 2015. The forecast calls for cloudy skies and a chance of rain, with high of about 70 degrees.

This morning we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Ms. Reynoso's class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. McWilliams' class for the pledge.

Today is...
International Games Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1902, First four-cylinder, gas-powered Locomobile hits the road. The 12-horsepower, Model C car was bought by a resident of New York for $4,000 from the Locomobile Company.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
A Shrimp's heart is in its head.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Respect, our second Pillar of Character, represented by the color yellow or gold. When you think about respect, think “The Golden Rule”.

People are not things, and everyone has a right to be treated with dignity. We certainly have no ethical duty to hold all people in high esteem, but we should treat everyone with respect, regardless of who they are and what they have done. We have a responsibility to be the best we can be in all situations, even when dealing with unpleasant people.

According to Ann Landers (Esther Pauline Friedman), American newspaper advice columnist, "The true measure of an individual is how he treats a person who can do him absolutely no good."

Read Ribbon Week:
Congratulations to our Red Ribbon Door winners:
  • 1st Place = Room 48, Ms. Nelson
  • 2nd Place = Room 15, Mrs. Baier
  • 3rd Place = Room 2, Mrs. Schmottlach
In the parent center, the Calaveras contest winner was Norma Becerril, mother of Hector and Ximena.

Safety First!
  • Kadama's are not allowed at school.
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also, remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, you are to to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!"
