Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, May 21, 2013. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of around 76 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Werner's class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Goulart's class for the pledge.

Today is...

Officially American Red Cross Founder's Day.

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1881, In Washington, D.C., humanitarians Clara Barton and Adolphus Solomons found the American National Red Cross, an organization established to provide humanitarian aid to victims of wars and natural disasters in congruence with the International Red Cross.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

There was once a lake the size of England in the Sahara.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.

Do It, Don’t Say It.

You know that old common wisdom, “Actions speak louder than words”? Well, it’s true. While you can apologize for not doing something until you’re blue in the face, you’ll gain so much more appreciation by another in your life by simply doing it in the first place. Yes, it means you have to work harder to keep on top of things to begin with, but the reward is that people will know you care because you just did it without being asked or reminded to do so.

According to Cynthia Ozick, American writer, "We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude."

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
