Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, May 14, 2013. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of around 78 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Ms. S. Isherwood's class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Werner's class for the pledge.

Today is...

Officially National Chicken Dance Day

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1607, some 100 English colonists arrive along the west bank of the James River in Virginia to found Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America. Dispatched from England by the London Company, the colonists had sailed across the Atlantic aboard theSusan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The oldest chocolate ever found was inside a 2,600-year-old- pot in Belize.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange. When you think about fairness, think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends.

What is fairness? Most would agree it involves issues of equality, impartiality, proportionality, openness and due process. Essentially fairness implies adherence to a balanced standard of justice without relevance to one’s own feelings or inclinations.

According to Margaret Chase Smith, politician, "One of the basic causes for all the trouble in the world today is that people talk too much and think too little. They act impulsively without thinking. I always try to think before I talk."

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
