Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, March 5, 2013. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of around 62 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Ms. Roberts / Ms. Martinez's class to lead us with the pledge.

Announcements:

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Riley's class for the pledge.

March 5th is officially, "National Cheese Doodle Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1963, the Hula-Hoop, a hip-swiveling toy that became a huge fad across America when it was first marketed by Wham-O in 1958, is patented by the company's co-founder, Arthur "Spud" Melin. An estimated 25 million Hula-Hoops were sold in its first four months of production alone.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

An Octopus has three hearts.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Respect, our second Pillar of Character, represented by the colors yellow or gold. Remember to think "the Golden Rule".

This is the Season of Non-violence:

Your word for the day is Reverence
Environmentalist John Muir said, “Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where Nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul.” Today go for a walk and realize the beauty around, above and below you.

We would like to remind students about our before school procedures. There are not any supervisors on duty until 7:30. If you arrive before 7:30, you are to sit at the tables. You should not be running around, standing on tables, or doing any other activity. For your safety, you must stay seated at the table.

Good luck to our 4th grade students taking the STAR Writing test this morning. We know that you will do your best and show how smart and talented RSU students are!

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
