Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 128 of school on this Tuesday, March 17, 2015. The forecast calls for sunny skies today, with high of about 81 degrees.

Today is...
St. Patrick's Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 461 A.D., Saint Patrick, Christian missionary, bishop and apostle of Ireland, dies at Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland. Thus creating, St. Patrick's Day.
In New York City on this day in 1762,the first parade honoring the Catholic feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is held by Irish soldiers serving in the British army.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
There are about 3,000 lightning flashes on earth every minute.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange. When you think about fairness, think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends.

What is fairness? Most would agree it involves issues of equality, impartiality, proportionality, openness and due process. Essentially fairness implies adherence to a balanced standard of justice without relevance to ones own feelings or inclinations.

According to a Chinese proverb, "Cheat the earth and the earth will cheat you."

Wellness Wednesday
It's Wellness Wednesday in the cafeteria. For our 20th week of our Wellness Wednesday Celebration, we will feature Turnips to represent the letter "T" in the A through Z Salad Bar. Turnips contain a number of beneficial nutrients and can be eaten raw. Turnips are low in calories and high in Vitamin C. Join us and let us "Turn Up" your taste buds with some Tasty Turnips!

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
