Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 95 of school on this Tuesday, January 27, 2015. The forecast calls for cloudy skies becoming sunny and a high of about 72 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Zacharias' class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by the Kindergarten classes.

Today is...
Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day

On this Day in History:
On January 27, 1888, the National Geographic Society is founded in Washington, D.C., for "the increase and diffusion of geographical knowledge."

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Some moths drink the tears of elephants.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange. When you think about fairness, think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends.

Fair people are impartial. They make decisions without favoritism or prejudice. They also honor equity. They correct mistakes promptly and voluntarily, and realize it is improper to take advantage of the weakness or ignorance of others.

According to Knute Rockne, American football player and coach, "Win or lose, do it fairly."

MAP Testing
Classes testing today are Mrs. Dias and Mrs. Ocampo, Mr. Hernandez, and Mrs. Heiland. Be sure to remember to take your time, read the questions thoroughly, and do your best.

4th grade week

Teacher Update:
  • Tuesday 1/27 = Tech Tuesday
  • Wednesday 1/28 = School Site Council Meeting
  • Thursday 1/29 = Grade-Level Collaboration

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
