Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, February 12, 2013. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of around 59 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Laquindanum's class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Fridell and Mrs. Schmottlach's class for the pledge.

February 12th is officially, "National Lost Penny Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1809, Abraham Lincoln is born in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Lincoln, one of America's most admired presidents, grew up a member of a poor family in Kentucky and Indiana. He attended school for only one year, but thereafter read on his own in a continual effort to improve his mind. As an adult, he lived in Illinois and performed a variety of jobs including stints as a postmaster, surveyor and shopkeeper, before entering politics. Lincoln became our 16th president in 1861.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Hummingbirds can't walk.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Caring, the fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color Red.

This is the Season of Non-violence:

Your word for the day is  Caring
According to Peter McWilliams, “Nonviolence toward the self is caring for oneself. Self-love a crowning sense of self-worth ... it is what the Greeks call reverence for the self.” Real caring is not just what we say, but what we do. Make a list of at least five ways that you can take better care of yourself. Practice at least one today.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
