Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 67 of school on this Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The forecast calls for cloudy skies and rain today with a high of about 65 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Boyne's classes to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Heiland's class.

Today is...
National Mutt Day

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1823, during his annual address to Congress, President James Monroe proclaims a new U.S. foreign policy initiative that becomes known as the "Monroe Doctrine." Primarily the work of Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, the Monroe Doctrine forbade European interference in the American hemisphere but also asserted U.S. neutrality in regard to future European conflicts.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Shark's teeth are literally as hard as steel.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.

Do It, Don't Say It.

You know that old common wisdom, actions speak louder than words? Well, its true. While you can apologize for not doing something until you're blue in the face, you'll gain so much more appreciation by another in your life by simply doing it in the first place. Yes, it means you have to work harder to keep on top of things to begin with, but the reward is that people will know you care because you just did it without being asked or reminded to do so.

According to Edith Wharton, American novelist, "There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."

It's 4th grade week.

Can-Do Food Drive
The annual Rock Springs Can-Do food drive is coming. The food drive will run from December 8th-December 18th. Our goal is 1,000 cans!

Winter Wonderland
This Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5:00-7:00.

Pajama Drive
On-Track is working to collect new Pajamas to help kids in need. Donate NEW pajamas in room 61.

Talent Show
It's time to start thinking about the Talent Show. Applications to audition will be handed out next week.  If you plan to try out, practice and rehearse every day before auditions.  If you want to do something with a friend, you must have time after school to practice together.

Tech Tuesday this afternoon - round table discussion of SDCUE
Leadership meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
