Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, December 18, 2012. The forecast calls for cloudy skies with a chance of rain and a high of around 57 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Zacharias' class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mr. Plunkett's third grade for the pledge.

December 18th is officially, "Bake Cookies Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1620, the British ship Mayflower docked at modern-day Plymouth, Massachusetts, and its passengers prepared to begin their new settlement, Plymouth Colony.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Elephants have been known to remain standing after they die.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Caring, the fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red:
If I told you I thought you were a very caring person, what would that mean? What is a caring person? Think about what caring means to you today.
According to a Edith Wharton, American novelist, “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”

The Can-Do Food drive is underway. We have passed the half way mark! We currently have 857 cans. Only 143 more are needed to reach our goal of 1,000. A special shout-out Mrs. Werner's class for bringing in 84 cans! Keep bringing in those cans of food and other non-perishable items to help those in need!

Don't forget about the PTA Candy Gram. Candy Gram sales are on after school.

Running Club is cancelled for today.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
