Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Today's we have sunny skies with a high of 94 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Andrew's 2nd grade class to lead us with the pledge.

On this Day in History:

In 1963 On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., the African American civil rights movement reaches its high-water mark when Martin Luther King, Jr., speaks to about 250,000 people attending the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The demonstrators--black and white, poor and rich--came together in the nation's capital to demand voting rights and equal opportunity for African Americans and to appeal for an end to racial segregation and discrimination.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Elephants have been known to remain standing after they die.

Rock Springs School is a Character Counts School:

The Pillar of the Day is Trustworthiness. To be trustworthy means to Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal — stand by your family, friends, and country.
According to Abraham Lincoln, our 16th American president, "We must not promise what we ought not, lest we be called on to perform what we cannot."

Teachers: Please be sure your classroom and mini-lab computers remain on today and tomorrow for updates.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
