Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Tuesday, April 8, 2014. The forecast calls for sunny skies today with a high of about 94 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Riley's class.

After break, Mrs. Berns and Ms. Cluka's class will be leading us in the pledge.

Announcements:

Happy Birthday
Mrs. Andrews

Today is...
Draw A Bird Day

On this Day in History:
On April 8, 1974, Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves hits his 715th career home run and breaks the long-standing record held by Babe Ruth.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Male woodchucks are called He-Chucks and females are called She-Chucks.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
It's Pillars of Character Week at RSU!

This week's challenge is to find examples of good character outside of our school. How many examples were you able to find yesterday? Share some of these examples with your class today.

According to Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens), American humorist, author and journalist, "To arrive at a just estimate of a renowned mans character one must judge it by the standards of his time, not ours."

Smarter Balanced Testing
Testing for 3rd grade continues this week with their Performance Task.

Crazy Hair Day
In celebration of Spring Break, this Friday will be Crazy Hair Day!

Running Club
Running Club is cancelled for today due to the heat. Also, Friday will be the last day for Running Club.

Ice Cream Sales
The procedure for Friday ice cream sales has changed. Ice cream will now be sold at the entrance door to the cafeteria. To buy ice cream, you must stand in the lunch line. Remember to be quiet and patient.

Teachers
If you have late students that come prior to 8:15, mark them as late in PowerSchool. Do not send them to the office. If a student comes after 8:15, then they need go come to the office

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
