Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 139 of school on this Tuesday, April 12, 2016. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with high of about 73 degrees.

This morning we have ________ to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we'll be joined by a surprise group class.

Today is...
D.E.A.R. Day

On this Day in History
On this day in 1916, Beverly Cleary was born in McMinnville, Oregon, and, until she was old enough to attend school, lived on a farm in Yamhill, a town so small it had no library. Most well-known for her Ramona books, Beverly Clear has published some 41titles including Ramona the Pest, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, and Dear Mr. Henshaw. Every year on April 11th, we celebrate her birthday by having National D.E.A.R. Day.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today
Blondes have more hair on their heads than Brunettes.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School
The Pillar of the Week is Citizenship, our sixth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple. When you think about citizenship, think regal purple as representing the state.

An effective citizen is someone who takes time away from their pursuit of happiness to do things that sustain our freedoms and keep the country safe.

According to Thomas B. Reed, Speaker of the House of Representatives, "There is, and always has been, one tremendous ruler of the human race, and that ruler is that combination of the opinions of all, the leveling up of universal sense which is called public sentiment. That is the ever-present regulator and police of humanity."

5th Grade Week

CAASPP Testing
CAASPP testing continues today. Testing today are Mrs. May, Mr. Baier, Mr. Horstman and Mrs. Roberts/Martinez's classes.

Safety First!
  • The playground swings are off limits and will remain off limits until further notice.
  • Remember to use the crosswalk.
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also, remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, you are to to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!"
