Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 25 of school on this Monday, September 21, 2015. The forecast calls for sunny skies, possibly becoming cloudy with thunderstorms, with high of about 88 degrees.

This morning we have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Andrews class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week, we will be joined by Ms. Roberts/Martinez class to lead us in the pledge.

Today is...
International Day of Peace

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1780, during the American Revolution, American General Benedict Arnold meets with British Major John Andre to discuss handing over West Point to the British, in return for the promise of a large sum of money and a high position in the British army. The plot was foiled and Arnold, a former American hero, became synonymous with the word "traitor."

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
When you get goosebumps and your hair stands, the hair helps to trap air, making you feel warmer by keeping in your body heat.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, our fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange. When you think about fairness, think of dividing an orange into equal sections to share fairly with friends.

• Play by the rules
• Take turns and share
• Be open-minded; listen to others
• Don’t take advantage of others
• Don’t blame others carelessly
• Treat all people fairly

According to Dennis Wholey, 20th/21st-century self-help author and journalist, "Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are a good person is a little like expecting the bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian."

MAP Testing:
Continues on today! Testing today will be Mrs. Andrews, Ms. S. Isherwood and Ms. J. Isherwood.

5th Grade week.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also, remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, you are to to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!
