Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 23 of school on this Thursday, September 18, 2015. The forecast calls for sunny cloudy skies, with high of about 82 degrees.

This morning we have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Ms. Peters' class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week, we will be joined by Mrs. Andrews class to lead us in the pledge.

Today is...
Constitution Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1787, The Constitution of the United States of America is signed by 38 of 41 delegates present at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Supporters of the document waged a hard-won battle to win ratification by the necessary nine out of 13 U.S. states.

On September 17, 1976, NASA publicly unveils its first space shuttle, the Enterprise, during a ceremony in Palmdale, California. Development of the aircraft-like spacecraft cost almost $10 billion and took nearly a decade. In 1977, the Enterprise became the first space shuttle to fly freely when it was lifted to a height of 25,000 feet by a Boeing 747 airplane and then released, gliding back to Edwards Air Force Base on its own accord.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
It takes approximately 12 hours for food to entirely digest.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green. When you think about  responsibility, think about being responsible for a green garden.

Responsible people are active in the pursuit of excellence. They are diligent and they persevere avoiding excuses.
Responsible people exercise self-control. They realize they are as they choose to be, every day.

According to Abraham Lincoln, 16th U.S. president, “You can't escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”

MAP Testing:
Continues on today! Testing today will be Mrs. Fridell and Mrs. Dias.

4th Grade week.

Pennies for Pets
Rock Springs raised over $1,000 in coins for animals in need. Everyone here was a big part of making this happen. Every coin made a difference in the lives of an animal who needs medical care, a loving home, or basic food/water to survive.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also, remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, you are to to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
RSU Friday
Tomorrow is RSU Friday. We look forward to seeing everyone in the Character Counts Quad for Friday morning assembly.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!
