Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 37 of school on this Thursday, October 9, 2014. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies today with a high of about 84 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mr. Hernandez's class to lead us in the pledge.
Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Goulart's class.

Happy Birthday:
Mrs. Laquindanum, Mrs. Hatch, Ms. Chau

Today is...
National Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work & School Day

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1936, harnessing the power of the mighty Colorado River, the Hoover Dam begins sending electricity over transmission lines spanning 266 miles of mountains and deserts to run the lights, radios, and stoves of Los Angeles.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
93% of a water melon is water.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Citizenship, our sixth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple. When you think about citizenship, think regal purple as representing the state.

  • One is an effective citizen by doing things that:
  • Remind us of our heritage
  • Involve us in the democratic process
  • Support individuals with a special responsibility for keeping the country strong
  • Help us better understand the workings of our government
  • Promote a sense of community
  • Keep individuals and families strong

According to Thomas Jefferson, Founding Father and third U.S. president, "It is strangely absurd to suppose that a million of human beings, collected together, are not under the same moral laws which bind each of them separately."

MAP Testing:
MAP Testing continues today with Mrs. Goulart testing with the CoW.

There are no more squishable.
Come and join us tonight at the Rock Springs October Fest Picnic. This free event will run from 5:30-7:30. There will be games and a movie in the MPR. Bring your own dinner and a blanket or lawn chair.

Today is an unassigned Thursday - enjoy!

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
