Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Monday, October 21, 2013. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of about 87 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Reynoso's Class.

Next week, Mrs. Allison's class will be leading up in the pledge.

Mr. Hernandez
Ms. Maria

Today is...

Reptile Awareness Day!

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1797, The USS Constitution, a 44-gun U.S. Navy frigate built to fight Barbary pirates off the coast of Tripoli, is launched in Boston Harbor. This ship later went on to become known as "Old Iron Sides".

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Mosquitoes like the scent of estrogen, hence, women get bitten by mosquitoes more often than men do.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

Show respect and responsibility for your school by setting aside time for people at your school or organization to beautify its campus and facilities, picking up trash, pledging not to vandalize property, or planting trees and flowers.

According to Aldo Leopold, American ecologist, forester, and environmentalist, "We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect."

Red Ribbon Week

It's Red Ribbon Week! This is a time to proclaim loud and strong that we are drug free at Rock Springs School! Today's theme is "Hugs Not Drugs"
  • Tuesday = Shade Out Drugs Day: Wear your Sunglasses
  • Wednesday: Wear-Red Day
  • Thursday = Team Up Against Drugs: Wear sports gear
  • Friday = Follow Your Dreams: Wear your pajamas
Teachers: please take some time today or tomorrow to bring your class to the MPR to sign our Red Ribbon banner. It should only take 5 minutes.

Safety First!

  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
