Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Thursday, October 11, 2012. The forecast is calling for showers likely and chance of thunderstorms with a high of 66 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

October 11 is officially, "Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in in 1968, Apollo 7, the first manned Apollo mission, is launched and conducted an 11-day orbit of Earth, during which the crew transmitted the first live television broadcasts from orbit.
Also on this day in 1975, Saturday Night Live made its debut on NBC. I'm Chevy Chase, and you're not.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Hummingbirds are the only animals able to fly backwards.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green:
Responsible people exercise self-control, restraining passions and appetites (such as lust, hatred, gluttony, greed and fear) for the sake of longer-term vision and better judgment. They delay gratification if necessary and never feel it’s necessary to "win at any cost." They realize they are as they choose to be, every day.
According to Albert Schweitzer, French Nobel Peace Prize-winning mission doctor and theologian , "A man can do only what he can do. But if he does that each day he can sleep at night and do it again the next day."

Tomorrow is RSU Friday. Remember to show your school pride and wear your RSU t-shirt. Also be sure to join Mrs. Frank after school tomorrow for Frog Spit Friday!

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
