Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Thursday, January 9, 2014. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of about 65 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Laquindanum's class.

Next week, Mrs. Mallinger's class will be leading us in the pledge.

Announcements:

Today is...
National Static Electricity Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1788, Connecticut becomes our 5th state of the United States.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Honey does not spoil.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Trustworthiness, our first Pillar of Character, represented by the color blue. When you think about trustworthiness, think "true blue".

Reliability and loyalty are qualities of a trustworthy person. A trustworthy person is loyal to their family, friends, and beliefs. They can also be relied upon to keep their promises.

According to Thomas Henry Huxley, English biologist and essayist, "Time, whose tooth gnaws away at everything else, is powerless against truth."

Talent Show
The Talent Show is coming to Rock Springs! Auditions will be on Tuesday, January 21st, not the 20th as originally announced.  If you would like to participate, you must fill out an application, have your parents sign it, and turn it in to Mrs. Zacharias or Miss Reynoso by Thursday, January 16th. That's next week! And don't forget to practice, practice, practice.

Tomorrow is San Diego Charger’s Spirit Day!

Let’s show our support for our home town team tomorrow by having a San Diego Chargers Spirit Day! Come to school wearing your Charger’s gear. We will take a picture at the morning assembly that we will send to the Chargers to show them that we a rooting for them! There will also be a Spirit Award for the classes with the most participants.

So once again, tomorrow is San Diego Charger’s Spirit Day!

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
