Today is Thursday, January 17, 2013. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of around 71 degrees.
This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Plunkett's class to lead us with the pledge.
Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Reynoso's class for the pledge.
January 17th is officially, "Kid Inventors' Day" and for you teachers, it's also "Ditch New Years Resolutions Day".
On this day in 1994, at 4:31 a.m., a 6.7-magnitude quake struck the San Fernando Valley, a densely populated area of Los Angeles located 20 miles northeast of the city's downtown. The Northridge quake, as it became known, was one of the most damaging in U.S. history. It is a reminder to all of us to make sure we are prepared for such an event.
Our eyes can distinguish as many as 10 million distinct color variations.
The Pillar of the Week is Trustworthiness, the first Pillar of Character, represented by the color blue:
Trustworthy people keep promises; if they say they’ll do something, they do it. They say and do good things for their families and friends; they are loyal.
When you think of Trustworthiness, think of being "True Blue".
According to Robert W. Service, American poet, "A promise made is a debt unpaid."
Tomorrow is RSU Friday! Be sure to join all of your fellow Roadrunners in the Character Counts Courtyard for our Friday assembly.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
