Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 110 of school on this Thursday, February 19, 2015. The forecast calls for cloudy skies today, with a high of about 73 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mr. Plunkett's classes to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Ms. Reynoso's class.

Today is...
Chocolate Mint Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1847, the first rescuers reach surviving members of the Donner Party, a group of California-bound emigrants stranded by snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
The life of an eyelash is about 5 months.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
It's Pillars of Character Week at RSU!

This week is Pillars of Character Colors Week. What Pillar color are you wearing today? Be sure to look around you today and recognize the colors that your fellow students are wearing and ask them what Pillar they represent.

Tomorrow is the last day of the week. Let's all wear Roadrunner Red to show the Caring Pillar.

According to, Thomas Paine, British-born American political activist, "Character is much easier kept than recovered."

MAP Testing
Kindergarten will be completing their make-ups today. Kinder teachers, please check your email for information.

Hearts for Huntington's
Thank you to Justin from Ms. Zacharias class and Isahiah from Ms. Ocampo's class for selling 10 hearts each! So far our total is 20 hearts. Please remember to return your hearts to the office. Rock Springs students are Caring Citizens!

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
RSU Friday
Tomorrow is RSU Friday, however, we will not be having our morning assembly in the quad. We still like to see everyone wearing their RSU shirts!

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
