Next week, Ms. J. Isherwood's class will be leading us in the pledge.
National Sacher Torte Day (Sacher Torte is a dense, bittersweet chocolate spongecake covered with a thin layer of chocolate traditionally made in Germany).
On this Day in History:
On this day in 1839, Union General George Armstrong Custer is born in Harrison County, Ohio. Although he is best known for his demise at the hands of the Lakota and Cheyenne Indians at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, Montana, in 1876, Custer built a reputation as a dashing and effective cavalry leader during the Civil War.
Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
While we're awake, our brain generates enough power to illuminate a light bulb of 25 watts.
Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.
Sharing is Caring.
It shows you care when you offer someone else the last cookie or ask the other person if there’s anything you can get them while you’re up. Simple acts of kindness are the ones we so easily overlook in everyday life. Yet they speak volumes to others in our lives.
According to Robert G. Ingersoll, American lawyer, politician and public speaker, "The record of a generous life runs like a vine around the memory of our dead, and every sweet unselfish act is now a perfumed flower."
Can-Do Food Drive
It's that time of year again! It's time for the annual Rock Springs Can-Do Food Drive! The food drive will run from Dec. 9th - Dec. 19th (next Monday). Beginning Monday, bring only non-perishable foods to donate to those in need this season. We already have 28 cans!
Our Fall Festival, now titled The Winter Wonderland Festival, will take place in one week. The festival is next Thursday, Dec. 12 from 5pm to 7pm in the Character Counts Quad.
Officers will meet in room 35, Mrs. Heiland's classroom today after school.
Tomorrow is RSU Friday! I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning in the Character Counts Quad to celebrate the RSU Spirit!
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
