Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Thursday, December 13, 2012. The forecast calls for cloudy skies and thunderstorms with a high of around 56 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mr. Horstman's class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Zacharias' first grade for the pledge.

December 13th is officially, "National Cocoa Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1577, English seaman Francis Drake sets out from Plymouth, England, with five ships and 164 men on a mission to raid Spanish holdings on the Pacific coast of the New World and explore the Pacific Ocean. Three years later, Drake's return to Plymouth marked the first circumnavigation of the earth by a British explorer.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Today's Science Fact comes from Ben in Mrs. McWilliam's class - Beavers can cause floods because the dams they build can't hold back the water.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Fairness, the fourth Pillar of Character, represented by the color orange:
Fairness means that one should correct mistakes, promptly and voluntarily. It is improper to take advantage of the weakness or ignorance of others.
According to a Chinese proverb, “ A bad workman blames his tools.”

The Can-Do Food drive is underway. We currently have 388 cans and need 612 more to reach our goal of 1,000. Keep bringing in those cans of food and other non-perishable items to help those in need!

A message from Mr. Plunkett - Due to the weather, Running Club will be cancelled for tomorrow.

From PTA - Candy Gram sales start tomorrow after school in the MPR. Candy Gram deliveries will start on Monday.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
