Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Thursday, December 12, 2013. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of about 68 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Ms. J. Isherwood's class.

Next week, Mrs. Dias's class will be leading us in the pledge.

Announcements:

Today is...
Gingerbread House Day, and Poinsettia Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1787, Pennsylvania becomes the second state of the United States.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
The longest living cells in the body are brain cells which can live an entire lifetime.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Citizenship, our sixth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple. When you think about citizenship, think regal purple as representing the state.

One is an effective citizen by doing things that:
• Remind us of our heritage
• Involve us in the democratic process
• Support individuals with a special responsibility for keeping the country strong
• Help us better understand the workings of our government
• Promote a sense of community
• Keep individuals and families strong

According to Bertrand Russell, British mathematician and philosopher, "Without civic morality communities perish; without personal morality their survival has no value."

Can-Do Food Drive
It's that time of year again! It's time for the annual Rock Springs Can-Do Food Drive! The food drive will run from Dec. 9th - Dec. 19th. Bring only non-perishable foods to donate to those in need this season. Today's tally is 255. We need 745 more cans to reach our goal of 1,000.

Fall Festival
Tonight is the Winter Wonderland festival. Bring your family for fun and games from 5pm to 7pm this evening.

RSU Friday
Tomorrow is RSU Friday - be sure to show your school spirit by wearing your RSU shirts and colors!

Teachers
Data team meetings for today are optional.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
