Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Thursday, August 23, 2012. Today's weather calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of 85 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Heiland's class to lead us with the pledge.
They are Mauricio, Mireya, Victor, Chloe, Devon

Announcements:

On this Day in History:

In 1902, pioneering cookbook author Fannie Farmer, who changed the way Americans prepare food by advocating the use of standardized measurements in recipes, opens Miss Farmer's School of Cookery in Boston. In addition to teaching women about cooking, Farmer later educated medical professionals about the importance of proper nutrition for the sick.

Also on this day in 1784, four counties in western North Carolina declare their independence as the state of Franklin. The counties lay in what would eventually become Tennessee.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Hummingbirds are the only animals able to fly backwards.

Rock Springs School is a Character Counts School:

Are you ready for a TRRFCC Terrific Thursday? We've been talking about the 5 Pillars of Character, now it's quiz time. Teachers, please take a minute to see which Terrific RSU students in your class can tell you the 5 Pillars of Character.

RSU Spirit Assembly

Please join Mrs. Frank at the outdoor stage tomorrow morning for a morning assembly. Be sure to show your RSU pride by wearing your RSU shirts. See you there!

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
