Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Monday, October 29, 2012. The forecast is calling sunny skies, with a high around 83 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

October 29 is officially, "National Hermit Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1998, Nearly four decades after he became the first American to orbit the Earth, Senator John Hershel Glenn, Jr., is launched into space again as a payload specialist aboard the space shuttle Discovery. At 77 years of age, Glenn was the oldest human ever to travel in space. During the nine-day mission, he served as part of a NASA study on health problems associated with aging.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The right lung takes in more air than the left.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Citizenship, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple:
Citizenship includes civic virtues and duties that prescribe how we ought to behave as part of a community.
According to a Ralph Waldo Emerson, American essayist, public philosopher and poet  "Life is not so short but that there is always time enough for courtesy"

Fundraiser Update:
This is the first week of our fundraiser. Orders due November 12th. Mr. Bones, the Fundraising Dog will be visiting classrooms this week to help motivate our students. Today, Mr. Bones is visiting Mrs. Zacharias' classroom.

Two reminders. Report card cut off day is next Friday, Nov. 9th. Also, be sure to have your laptop on, plugged in and the screen open. There are a couple of very important items to correct on you laptop so that you may do your report cards.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
